Dmitri Pogorelov , A native of Voronezh, Russia, Dmitri Pogorelov started playing the violin at the age of 5, gave his first solo recital three years later, and first soloed with an orchestra at the age of 9. After moving to the United States 7 years ago Dmitri studied with world-renowned violinists Ilya Kaler, Elmar Oliveira, and Sergiu Schwartz.
Dmitri has won international competitions in the US, Germany and Russia, and appeared in solo recitals, and as a soloist with orchestras in the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, and Russia, where he performed in the most prestigious concert halls of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
In addition to his solo and chamber music activities Dmitri has also worked under Pierre Boulez and Andrew Grams as leader of the Chicago Civic Orchestra
Sara Chazin. started playing the violin at age six in San Diego, California, with her teacher, Michael Gaisler.  Since then she has been a guest soloist with the La Jolla Chamber Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony.  Sara was concertmaster of the orchestra at McGill University in Montreal, where she received her bachelors degree.  Sara also greatly enjoys playing chamber music-- while in Montreal, her group performed the Grosse Fugue by Beethoven with Anthony Marwood of the Florestan Trio.   Sara studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi, first violinist of the Vermeer Quartet, at the Chicago College of Performing Arts.  She is currently a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. 
Ellen O'Haye,Chicago-based cellist Ellen O'Hayer has performed in numerous venues, from LA's Walt Disney Concert Hall to the David Letterman Show.  While on scholarship at the Henri Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, Ellen appeared in pop legend Burt Bacharach's live orchestra. In 2007, as a member of the touring band for the Bright Eyes world tour, she performed throughout North America, Europe, and Japan, and appeared in the band's "Hot Knives" music video. Ellen is also a member of the Chicago indie-rock ensemble Gabardine, and she played on the self-titled 2007 album by the Chicago chamber-rock band The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir.    Ellen currently serves as Principal Cellist with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra and has also played with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra.  Ellen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the DePaul University School of Music  She continued her music education at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of the Performing Arts
Eliza Bangert earned a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the University of Northern Iowa, where she studied with Angeleita Floyd and Torleif Ander. She completed the Master of Music degree in performance at DePaul University, where she studied with Mary Stolper.  Eliza is a former member of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra. Dedicated to community outreach, Eliza was highly involved with the Civic Orchestra's MusiCorps program and also teaches flute lessons to foster students through the Statewide Opportunities in Arts and Recreation (SOAR) program. She won first place in the Society of American Musicians Young Artist Competition in 2006.

Ben McMunn. began studying the classical guitar at a young age with professor Joel Brown of Skidmore University in upstate New York. As a high school student Ben competed in the Nyssma conference two years in a row and received top marks both years. As an undergraduate student Ben studied at DePaul University in Chicago under the direction of Mark Maxwell. Upon graduating from DePaul, Ben was accepted on an Eckstein Fund scholarship as a Masters Candidate at Northwestern University. Here he studies under the direction of Anne Waller. Ben has participated in master classes with Oscar Giglia, Elena Papandreou, Robert Guthrie, and Colin McAllister.

Ben Kulp: Since moving to Chicago to perform with Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Ben has been an active orchestral and chamber performer.  In addition to performing regularly with Chicago professionals he is the music coordinator for Innocenti Strings- a nationwide network of Classical music performers.  Before moving to Chicago Ben completed his Master's studies with Mihai Tetel, his Bachelor's degree with Dr. David Carter and lessons with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.  In his spare time Ben enjoys jazz, reading, and training to run the Chicago Marathon.
Pascal Innocenti: Violinist and founder of the Innocenti Strings. Mr. Innocenti is a regular member of Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He began his violin study at the age of seven in Monaco (Monte Carlo) and then continued his musical education in Paris, where he received the first prize at the conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison, Paris. In 2006 he earned the Master of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Cincinnati (CCM).  He has received the Gold Medal in Chamber Music at the Conservatoire de Music d Orcay Competition and a complete graduate scholarship from the University of Cincinnati. He has also earned a three-year fellowship from The Foundation Princesses Grace de Monacoa to participated in the Aspen Music Festival.
Recently appointed Violin Faculty at the Chicago Music Academy, Pascal Innocenti is also an Active member of Chicago Symphony Orchestra MusiCorps™; a program that promotes music awareness appreciation, training, and encourage audience development

Jo Preece, Originally from Pusan, South Korea, Joo Yun Harrington Preece began her violin studies at the age of 5. After moving to Michigan, Mrs. Preece attended various music schools and festivals including Meadowmount School of Music, Interlochen Arts Academy, Chautauqua Music Festival, and National Repertory Orchestra. She received both B.M. and M.M. degrees from Michigan State University under the guidance of Dmitri Berlinsky and Natalia Khoma. Mrs. Preece is an avid chamber musician and teacher, currently teaching in Chicago and giving chamber recitals all over the US. She is also the founder of Faulkner Chamber Music Festival held every summer in Conway, AR. This season, she is performing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Marguerite Lynn Williams Harpist Marguerite Lynn Williams has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member.  Ms. Williams has been awarded prizes in numerous competitions including the American Harp Society National Competition, the National Endowment of the Arts Artist Recognition Talent Search, the National Federation of Music Clubs, the American Opera Society, Sigma Alpha Iota and two-time award winner of the Anne Adams Award.

**Among other solo engagements, Marguerite Williams has been featured as soloist with the International Chamber Artists, New World Symphony, Handel Society, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, Roosevelt University Chamber Orchestra; has premiered numerous compositions including Augusta Read Thomas' ...The Soul is Light...; and is under high demand for her performances of contemporary music including Berio's Circles for voice, harp and two percussionists.  Recent performances have included collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Renee Fleming, Maxim Vengerov, Kanye West and appearances as royal entertainment for H.I.H. Princess Thi-Nga of Vietnam.

**An experienced orchestra musician, Ms. Williams has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Toronto Symphony and San Diego Symphony.  She is currently substitute Principal Harp for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (2008-2009 season), as well as Principal Harp of the Colorado Music Festival (Boulder, CO).  She was previously Principal Harpist of the New World Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, New Philharmonic Orchestra (Glyn Ellen, IL), and DuPage Opera Orchestra.  Ms. Williams is a founding member of the International Chamber Artists, Project Copernicus and Fifth House ensembles.

**Marguerite Lynn Williams attended the Eastman School of Music where she received both a Bachelor of Music degree and Performer's Certificate studying with Kathleen Bride.  She then attended Roosevelt University to study with Sarah Bullen, where she received a Master's Degree in Orchestral Studies.  Previously on faculty at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami from 2006 until 2008, Ms. Williams maintains a small private harp studio in Chicago. 
Karel Coninx. Born in Hasselt, Belgium, Karel Coninx began studying the violin aged five.  After obtaining a Kandidaatsdiploma for violin and a Meesterdiploma for viola at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he is currently combining a career as a chamber and orchestral player with a Performance Diploma program at the Chicago College of Performing Arts.   His principal teachers were Urszula Gorniak, Paul Declerck, and currently Roger Chase. Mr. Coninx has appeared at chamber music festivals across Europe, Mexico and the U.S., and has performed as an orchestral player with orchestras including the Brussels Philharmonic and Brussels Chamber Orchestra.  Currently a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Mr. Coninx is also happy to share his passion for chamber music with Chicago’s City Colleges, Public High Schools and Communities, as a member of the Civic Orchestra’s MusiCorps String Quartet

Sarah Cave
Sarah Cave, a native of Connecticut, studied violin with Anca Nicolau on a full scholarship at Manhattan School of Music's Preparatory program.  Later she received her degree in music education at North Park University (Chicago) while studying under Charles Pikler, the principal violist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Previous teachers include Marco Fornaciari (Italy), Janet Sung, and Desiree Ruhstrat.
While Sarah enjoys performing both solo and chamber music, her passion for teaching is indisputable.  She has coached strings at Whitney Young Magnet High School and Northside College Preparatory. Currently, she enjoys teaching privately, as well as performing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago,


Kate Friedman: Violin. She recently completed her fourth and final season in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as concertmaster.  She has appeared on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Center Presents MusicNOW concert series.  She is a past recipient of the Jules C. Reiner Violin Prize from the Tanglewood Music Center Festival, where she also served as concertmaster.   Additionally, Kate is a receiver of the Mildred E. Shambo Scholarship, the North Shore Musician’s Club Scholarship, and an Aurora Foundation Grant.  Other accolades include a 1st prize in DuPage Youth Symphony’s Concerto Competition and a 2nd prize in Fox Valley’s Young Artist Competition.  She has attended the Tanglewood Music Center Festival, Taos Chamber Music Festival, New York String Orchestra Seminar, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Mozateum Sommerakademie, Musicorda, and the Indiana University String Academy, and has participated in master-classes with Pinchas Zukerman and Yo-Yo Ma. She received her Bachelor’s of Music with Distinction from Indiana University, and both a Master’s of Music with Honors and Performer’s Certificate from DePaul University under the tutelage of Ilya Kaler. 


Ai Ishida. Violist. Ai Ishida was born in Tokyo, Japan to two musicians of the New Japan philharmonic. In Japan, she studied with notable teachers such as Tomoko Shirao and Yuki Hyakutake at the Tokyo National University of fine arts and music. Because of Ai’s preference for orchestral and chamber music, she has traveled to Europe, Asia and the United States to play in various music festivals, including the Asian Youth Orchestra, Pacific Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. During these festivals, she worked with Yo-Yo Ma, Giddon Kramer. Her current studies in the United States began at Northern Illinois University where she studied with Richard Young and the Vermeer quartet. Presently, she resides in Chicago, and studies with Li-Kuo Chang and Yukiko Ogura. She played in the Civic orchestra of Chicago as rotating principal violist..
